To celebrate the launch of Holotronica I have created a one off digital hologram of one of the 3D AV tracks on the album entitled 'Speedway'.
Digital holograms are a new type of hologram that can take your 3D generated object files and output them to a 4mm piece of glass. The depth is amazing, it sticks right out and you can look at the object from all angles. I found a company in the States who can do them for me. I hope to be able to create bespoke holograms for clients in the future.
The bulk of the visuals on Holotronica have been a collaboration between myself and Tom Wall from Blinkin Lab. Tom has created visuals for Chase and Status, Pendulum and Eric Prydz to name a few. He has been so busy in the last few years that it has taken a long time to finish Holotronica around all of his other projects. I have moved 5 times while making Holotronica and Tom has been coming to my various homes around the country and staying a couple of days at a time when ever he can so we closely worked on the complicated 3D midi controlled visuals. you can see more of Toms work at www.blinkinlab.com Tom will also sign the piece.
The hologram is 30x30 cm and a 44 x 44cm frame and will come with a wall light with green LED for illuminating the image. when the light is turned off it looks like a black shiny piece of glass. The hologram came with a green led flashlight that I will include also. moving the flashlights plays interest tricks that you can explore.
